Take pride in V.I. National Park and explore rarely visited Hassel Island. Spend this coming Saturday morning, December 8th, working along side volunteers from St. Thomas and St. John removing debris from the shoreline of Hassel Island. This clean up marks the completion of the large scale debris removal effort that has been taking place on Hassel Island for the past couple of weeks. This project was organized and funded by a coalition of organizations and private parties, including VI National Park, The St. Thomas Historical Trust, Ricardo Charaff, Friends of Virgin Islands National Park, and the VI Government.
If you are interested in participating in this effort, please meet us at the National Park Visitor Center Saturday at 7:30 am to sign up. Transportation to Hassel Island is provided, as are gloves and bags. Be sure to bring lots of water, and wear “brush appropriate attire,” such as long pants and shirt, and sturdy closed-toe shoes. Lunch will be provided. For more information please call Friends of V.I. National Park, (340) 779-4940.
